Obedience training is a way of life. It is an ongoing process of continued learning. Proper training is mandated by our domestication of dogs. Nature prepared the dog to live in the wilds with others of its own kind. The dog has been developing instincts for thousands of years that make cohabitation with other dogs in the wilds possible. The lack of our understanding of these very same instincts is what causes the dog so much trouble in our homes. In other words a well trained puppy can be constructively taught what you want the puppy "TO DO" in given situations. Instead most puppy owners attempt to teach an untrained puppy what "NOT TO DO".
