Obedience training
is a way of life. It is an ongoing process of continued learning.
Proper training is mandated by our domestication of dogs. Nature prepared the dog to live
in the wilds with others of its own kind. The dog has been developing instincts for thousands
of years that make cohabitation with other dogs in the wilds possible. The lack of our understanding
of these very same instincts is what causes the dog so much trouble in our homes. When we take a dog
into our home it
is imperative that we provide the dog with the proper communication skills (obedience training) so we
we can teach the dog how to behave in this strange new world. A world that Mother Nature did not
prepare your dog for. In fact it is a case of the wrong instincts for the wrong world. Just consider the outcome of your dog
attempting to catch the car that is "running" away (prey-chase instinct) from your dog. When we take a
dog into our homes we have the moral imperative to provide the dog with proper training. In turn we are
then able to teach our dog the necessary coping skills to live safely and happily in this strange new world
we call home.
Obedience training makes it possible to control the development of behavior
patterns in our dogs. In other words a well trained puppy can be constructively taught what
you want the puppy "TO DO" in given situations. Instead most puppy owners attempt to teach an
untrained puppy what "NOT TO DO". The end result of this type of handling is a stressed out hyper
active puppy. The program at "The Educated Puppy" includes a comprehensive education for the entire
family. Each client receives private consultation, instructional videos, in school hands on family
lessons, a comprehensive booklet that describes the best ways to utilize the training and
a visit to your home by "Uncle Mikey". Once your "educated puppy" is back at home with you, you will
then be able to enjoy all the benefits of owning a well adjusted puppy
with whom you are able to communicate. Now your family is in a position to teach your puppy how you
want it to behave in your home.
Once your "educated puppy" is back home "Uncle Mikey"
is on call for you and offers follow up lessons for the rest of
your dog's life. If you need him he will be there.
